DNA EYE TEST
The on-site blood draw that is part of ABCA's eye clinic at the
National Finals will be at the Ft. Meade trial grounds for the CEA
test and is for Border Collies only. Dr. Larry Carpenter of the
Veterinary Surgical Service in Sturgis officiates on both Friday,
September 16th, and Monday, September 20th. Nursery dog owners:
There wil be no eye clinic on Monday. You may substitute the DNA
blood draw for the eye test requirement. ABCA encourages DNA testing
of dogs brought to the Finals by paying for the veterinarian (at the
rate of $10/dog), vet supplies and shipping expenses.
Times of blood draw: We expect to be open two or three hours each
day, depending on the number of dogs presented for the blood draw.
The procedure will not interfere with your dog's performance if they
need to run later. If you haven't already done so, please let me
know if you plan to bring dogs.
The test will cost $135 (savings of 25%) if you use the Test Request
found at
www.optigen.com It will cost $144 (saving of 20%) if you use a
form which I will download and bring to the clinic. However, Francis
has said she will let us use the computer in her kiosk to access
Optigen's site and get the Test Request then and there. So,
spur-of-the-moment decisions to test for CEA will still be eligible
for the largest discount. You may pay by credit card when you
request the test on-line or you may write a check that will be
included with the Test and the blood sample.
Either way, you will need to enter the clinic code in the
appropriate line.
BCFINALS2005 is the code for the National Sheepdog Finals 20/20
Clinic. You need to copy the code exactly. If your dog has a tattoo
or microchip number, remember to enter it where it is asked for.
For anyone needing a satellite 20/20 clinic where you can
participate using your own veterinarian to draw the blood sample,
there is a clinic about the same time. Do not request a test until
September 2nd. This is listed under the name of Autumn Eyes clinic.
The code for the Autumn Eyes clinic is AE2020S05 (those are zeroes
not O's) and it will be active 9/2 throught 9/23.
