A beautiful morning, slight breeze, cool but will warm up by noon. Gering community welcomed everyone with open arms.
The trial is located at the historic Farm & Ranch Museum in Gering, NE. They are devoted to the preservation and interpretation
of early methods of agriculture in the North Platte Valley. The display of farm equipment is amazing. The office is set up inside
the museum in front of huge glass windows right in front of the trial field sitting on the Oregon Trail. The backdrop of the course
is the picturesque Scott Bluff National Monument which includes Mitchell Pass where the native Americans, the fur trappers
and the pioneers traveled on their way West. A person can just imagine John Wayne with guns blazing, chasing the bad guys.

JIMMY WALKER & MITCH, 2009 National Reserve Champion, Gering, NE.

Mitch is by my Ben, who I lost exactly a year ago while the National Finals was going on, and a female belonging to Russell Rayborn of Athens, Texas. I ended up with 4 of the nine puppies in that litter and let people buy what they wanted. Mitch is the one that was left. From the get go he has exhibited a lot of stock sense. Mitch, in his first every trial, won the Sundowner Stockdog Association Cattledog Futurity as a 2 year old. He works both sheep and cattle equally well winning and placing in both types of trials and in both timed and judged venues. He is the most versatile dog I've ever owned. His natural instincts have saved us in situations we've not encountered before when working at home. To me, he's the all-around stockdog and he made me proud at the 2009 Finals. Jimmy Walker
