Hats off to the following ladies who helped with the draw for National Finals 2010 to be help at Middletown, VA in Sseptember 18th. These special helpers are Pat Collins, Weatherford, been helping with the draw for 20 years, Cindi Pimental, Weatherford, Tx. for 5 years and Beverly Rhidenour, Groesbeck, Tx her first year and our daughter Janet Bottoms, Crawford. 2009 National Judges Faansie Bason, South Africia: Faansie is a very good sheep man as well as a good dog handler. He comes very well recommended by his peers from his home country as a judge. He has judged and competed in double lift trials, both here and in South Africa. He has made his living as a farmer\ shepherd for many years. Bruce Fogt, Ohio: Bruce, his wife Linda and daughter Haley live on a sheep farm near Sidney , Oh. where they raise and train Border Collies. They also publish a bimonthly magazine called the Working Border Collie. Bruce has been raising, training and competing with Border Collies for over thirty years. He has also served as Director of USBCHA. .Bruce has judged all over the country, and holds many trialing clinic. Lyle Lad, Ohio: Lyle has been involved with border collies for twenty-three years by training her own pup which she bought from Jack Knox and started trialing twenty-one years ago. She is very well known for being an excellent handler, teacher and trainer. Some of her more impressive wins have been: Blue Ridge Open Trial in 1992. She has run in the top twenty at the National Finals many times (placing fourth twice). She also has run and placed in the Nursery Finals numerous times. Lyle lives on a farm in Ohio with her husband, Matt. In the past on two separate occasions she has taken the opportunity to work as a shepherd in Yorkshire England where she also was able to trial. Her experience is extensive as well as her will to achieve. Kevin Evans, Powys, Wales: Trial success;- supreme champion 2008, 10th and 12th in world championship 2008, 9th supreme 2004, 10th supreme 2000, 14th supreme 2005, welsh brace champion 1999 and 2005, res international brace champ 2005, 6 times welsh team member, North Wales champion 2008. He has judged many trials in Wales including probably the biggest double gather trial at Selatyn. Also judged major trials overseas including trials in Sweden, Belgium, Iceland, Netherlands which most have been double gather championships. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- EYE CLINIC - CATTLEDOG FINALS CLINIC MAY 7, 2009 AT TRIAL SITE. Eye exams: Dogs entered in the Nursery or Open Trials take precedence over other dogs, but all are welcome as time permits. Litters and puppies are encouraged. No charge for dogs that are registered with ABCA. . All dogs must be examined by a certified Diplomat of the College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists (DACVO) either before participating in a Finals Trial or at the eye clinic during the Finals. Even dogs who have DNA clearance for CEA must be examined, since the exam also screens for conditions other than CEA. The certificate that is issued will be good for 25 months from the date of the examination. The permission slip signed by the competitor to allow information on CEA & PRA to be sent to the USBCHA secretary will suffice for 25 months. Dogs over the age of eight (8) are not required to have exam. Eye Clinic will be held on Thursday 7 , at Trial Site, 10 am. It is best to contact your individual insurance agent to obtain coverage of your events.
