At the annual meeting of the
USBCHA in October 1998 our by-laws were amended to put into effect a
new points system for qualifying dogs for the National Finals.
In the confusion of the annual meeting the Board of Directors thought
that the proposal that had been made 90 days prior to the annual
meeting had been amended at the meeting. A careful reading of the
minutes of the meeting and interviews of attendees has revealed that
there were indeed no amendments to the original motion. That original
motion is, therefore, the points system that must be used for
qualifying dogs. The original list reflected a faulty interpretation
of the points system based upon what we thought was an amended version
of the original proposal. The points chart has been corrected and list
of qualified dogs now reflects the use of the correct points system.
We at the USBCHA are very sorry for the confusion and appreciate
everyone's forbearance as we work our way through the early confusion
surrounding this new technique for qualifying dogs.
The correct Points system amendment to the by-laws reads:
The top placing 20% of all dogs competing in a sanctioned
trial will acquire points based on the total number of dogs running in
each trial. Dogs may accumulate points from their top five point
placings at trials in the qualifying year. After the cutoff date,
anyone may send their entry for the National Finals to the Secretary,
who will accept the top 150 point earning dogs who enter. In the event
of a tie, all dogs tied at the 150 dog level will be accepted.
